At DJC we endeavour to keep mat fees as low as possible. We value student attendance and progress over monetary gain. We are a club run by volunteers; this is not a business and we do not take money from the club. Surplus money is put back into the club. We have to pay hall hire and this is primarily what our fees are based on.

New Starters

First lesson

When you join us at DJC, your first lesson is FREE!

You are not obligated to pay anything to try out Judo with us for the first time. We fully appreciate that Judo isn't for everyone which is why we run this offer.

Thereafter, you may pay per lesson for the first month of training which is £5 for a Friday session and £3 for a Sunday session and is payable by PayPal or bank transfer. Again, these are introductory offers to try and give you flexibility before you commit to joining us. Choosing a club that is right for you is extremely important.

If you have trained in other arts and have a uniform for that art, you may wear that provided it is durable and only for your first month. If you have queries regarding this, please speak to Gareth.

What should I do or expect?

Beyond your first month

After your first month (or after three lessons, whichever occurs first), you are required to obtain insurance from Welsh Judo directly. You can start that process here.

You can also purchase judogis (a uniform worn in Judo) from us at the club. We usually have a stock of Bltizsport, Cimac and Addidas suits but occasionally, they may have to be ordered in. Orders are often with us by the following weekend. If you purchase through us, we can offer various discounts off the displayed price on their respective websites dependent on your payment plan when you join us.

White gi's are preferable but both white and blue gi's are permitted. Any other colour of gi is not permitted.

Jujitsu gi's are permitted for training provided they are plain. Shoulder logos displaying the manufacturer is absolutely fine. Don't take this request personally, you are training Judo and this is the level of etiquette we expect at DJC. For competitions, you will need to follow the rules pertaining to that competition. We can give guidance in person on what type of suits are appropriate.

After your first month, we only accept monthly payments. This is to ensure financial security for the club. Details of such are found in our Google Classroom where we store all documents required for students. You will be invited to our online Google Classroom after your first month. However, you will be removed if inactive for longer than six months and without a valid license as part of our safeguarding policy.

We offer a variety of payment plans that may or may not change between years. Our year runs with the academic calendar of 1st September - 31st August.  Should you have any queries regarding this, please email us at duffrynjudoclub@gmail.com
