Friday Sessions
This session is available to adults, plus juniors who hold a green belt or above.
18:00 - 19:30
Our Friday sessions are an excellent end to a standard working week. This session is usually quite physical.
Typically, our Friday sessions may consist of:
Warm-up (~20 minutes depending on intensity)
Nage-komi / uchikomi / basic drills / syllabus work (~20 minutes)
Standard practice of the basics to cement good habits.
Technical instruction (~20 minutes)
Usually a technique or system of techniques are broken down into fine details.
Situational randori / full randori (~25 minutes)
Application of everything developed in the previous parts of the lesson.
Cool down (~5 minutes)
The above is not set in stone, and the session can be adapted in intensity based on the week everyone has had!
Sunday Sessions
This session is available to all students and is a mixed session.
16:30 - 18:00
Our Sunday sessions are more relaxed in terms of physical intensity and are tailored more to our younger students and technical work for the adults. We promote learning through fun, especially with our younger students. Where possible with multiple coaches, we try to split the mat during actual practice between juniors and seniors. Juniors are instructed with more of a fun aspect. Seniors will typically work on their technical drills and grading requirements.
Typically, our Sunday sessions may consist of:
Warm-up - all together (~20 minutes depending on intensity)
This consists of a variety of games for engagement, light stretches and ukemi practice.
Nage-komi / uchikomi / basic drills / syllabus work - split in to groups - Juniors may take part in team activities / games. Seniors can largely be independent at this activity (~20 minutes)
Technical instruction - split into groups (~20 minutes)
Situational randori / full randori / koka - koka is an activity whereby only your feet are allowed to touch the floor, anything else touches it, then you're out. Winner stays on. Great activity to keep training with a variety of people. (~15 minutes)
Games to finish the lesson. Depending on the size of the class, we may play all together or we'll allow the seniors to keep working on their technical work. We play anything from bulldogs to dodgeball. The games we play always have a purpose. Whether to help build specific skills or decision making or to simply help develop physical attributes. Above all, have fun!
Cool down (~5 minutes)
